Swiss cleantech company Bcomp has supplied its advanced ampliTex™ flax fibre composites to French Chapoget for the creation of the Cabin Trunk, a piece that reimagines the spirit of the traditional travel trunk in a modern, responsible, and faithful companion. Bcomp’s high-performance natural fibre technology provides the structural foundation for Chapoget’s design, demonstrating the versatility of natural materials in sustainable luxury applications.

The Cabin Trunk is lightweight, shock-resistant, and fully recyclable. Each trunk can be configured to the finest detail, with adaptable components and retractable wheels. On arrival, it can function as a mobile desk or wardrobe, blending timeless aesthetics with contemporary functionality. Its excellence was recognised by the A’Design Award in 2025, one of the world’s largest, most prestigious and influential design accolades.

Natural beauty, conscious by design

Today’s conscious travellers are redefining luxury through intentional choices, seeking products where design, materials and purpose align. Consumers are increasingly factoring recyclability and material circularity into their purchasing decisions, driving demand for carbon-neutral, natural composite materials that do not compromise on quality or aesthetics.

Bcomp’s advanced flax fibre composites deliver this, with a material that is both high-performing and naturally beautiful. The flax grows naturally in Western Europe and is processed into Bcomp’s ampliTex™ fabric, which has a unique aesthetic that sets it apart from synthetic materials.

The Cabin Trunk’s carefully considered dimensions and configurable interior are designed to last and to encourage a more intentional approach to travel, reconciling the travel experience with a certain art of living.

The reinvented trunk for eco-responsible travel is designed, developed and assembled in France. This short supply chain brings together traditional craftsmanship and innovative materials. All components have been selected to be high-quality, aesthetic and recyclable, delivering a refined expression of travel innovation.

Proven high-end performance

For more than a decade, Bcomp’s advanced composite materials have been proven in the most demanding conditions. Starting on ski slopes and racetracks, they have since been adopted by major automotive OEMs including BMW, CUPRA, and Polestar. This collaboration with Chapoget brings their material expertise to sustainable high-end travel.

Nicolas Samson, Sales Manager at Bcomp said: “Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important part of consumer purchasing decisions and lifestyle. We can achieve significant reductions in carbon emissions through natural composites developed using renewable and locally sourced materials. With excellent stiffness, low weight, and the possibility of stunning surface finishes and designs, Bcomp’s proprietary technologies offer a sustainable alternative to manufacturing conventional luxury and performance products.”

Thomas Chaperot, CEO at Chapoget said: “To recycle better, you have to design better. We have brought together an ensemble of creative, innovative, technical and sustainable solutions to project the Cabin Trunk into the future. This is Chapoget’s response to the fast-fashion mindset applied to mobility. We have crafted a piece of luggage made to be passed on, to adapt and to age gracefully.”
