Swiss cleantech company Bcomp has developed a unique design of its flax-fibre composite for the CUPRA Tindaya Showcar – unveiled at the IAA Mobility Open Space at in Munich as part of IAA Mobility 2025.
CUPRA’s characteristic CUP Bucket seats and the exterior bumper of the new Showcar are built with Bcomp’s ampliTex™ flax fibre material. Working closely with CUPRA’s CMF (Colour, Materials, Finish) and interior and exterior designers, Bcomp’s team developed a custom copper colour finish, enhancing the vehicle’s visual identity with earth tones.

Bcomp’s unique ampliTex™ Twill 2/2 delivers up to 85% CO2 reductions compared to carbon fibre — a proof point for the use of this performance weave as a viable alternative.
The adoption of this next-generation bio-based material for visible interior and semi-structural parts is expected to accelerate due to the decarbonisation plans of leading OEMs and governing bodies’ regulatory pressure.
This partnership builds on a three-year collaboration that began with CUPRA’s Born VZ, now in series production, marking the expansion of natural fibre composites beyond concept vehicles into mass production models. The Barcelona-born brand’s continued adoption of flax-fibre composites in Tindaya demonstrates its commitment to paving the way for more accessible and environmentally responsible vehicles.

Named after a volcanic mountain that rises from the Canary Island of Fuerteventura, the Tindaya Showcar features copper-toned elements that echo CUPRA’s signature aesthetic, while its raw form connects with the materials and textures of the brand’s visual identity.
By replacing conventional synthetic materials with ampliTex™, Tindaya prioritises responsible design choices without compromising on performance or aesthetics, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to comprehensive sustainability.

“For CUPRA, sustainability goes beyond simply swapping internal combustion engines for battery powered engines. By replacing conventional synthetic materials, they are leading the way for the future of mobility” said Nicolas Samson, Sales Manager at Bcomp. “Tindaya is a proof that responsible design choices don’t have to compromise on performance or aesthetics. With collaborators like CUPRA, we’re bringing these sustainable materials to a wider market.”
“Bcomp’s industry-leading material expertise has enabled us to blend technology and sustainability, redefining what’s possible in our new Tindaya Showcar” added Francesca Sangalli, Head of Colour & Trim Concept & Strategy at CUPRA. “We are using these advanced natural fibre materials in both the interior and exterior applications with the same exceptional aesthetics and performance. With our Born VZ already in production, our CMF and design teams were thrilled to bring their vision for this new concept to reality, paying maximum attention to the driver’s experience.”
