Bcomp has teamed up with Jones Snowboards to bring its natural fibre composites to the brand’s iconic snowboard designs. This collaboration marks a significant step in advancing high-performance, sustainable materials in the snowboarding industry.
Jones’ new Stratos all-terrain freeride board features Bcomp’s flax-carbon hybrid tape, arranged in a V shape on nose. This innovation enhances stiffness while maintaining a lightweight feel and excellent vibration damping—delivering a smoother, more responsive ride with a lower environmental footprint.

The board’s impressive performance is due in part to Bcomp’s ampliTex™, our cutting-edge natural composite technology made from flax fibres and designed for high-performance composite layups. The innovative material enhances snowboard design by combining lightweight strength with excellent damping properties. When used alongside carbon in a hybrid tape, ampliTex™ delivers the best of both worlds—the snappy, high-energy response of carbon fibres and the natural vibration absorption of flax. The result is a snowboard that feels both lively and stable, offering riders a perfect balance of playfulness and control on and off the slopes.
Swiss family-owned Nidecker Group, Jones shares Bcomp’s values in sustainability, eco-performance and innovation to decarbonise the snow sports industry. The brand was founded in 2009 by legendary big mountain snowboarder Jeremy Jones, and has since crafted an industry-leading range of snowboards, splitboards and outerwear, while being a pioneer in manufacturing sustainability, environmental outreach and snowboard safety education.
The Stratos all-terrain freeride board will be showcased at Bcomp’s booth at JEC 2025 where customers will experience the journey of the board’s co-creation with Jones.

Valentin Penning, Product developer & coordinator at Jones, commented: “This collaboration with Bcomp has enabled us to improve performance and decarbonise the lifecycle of our Stratos all-terrain board. The team’s technical expertise and ongoing support from concept to the final snowboard was invaluable, and truly showcases their commitment to helping brands to build a more sustainable future.”
Patrick Vuagnat, Sports & Leisure Manager, added: “Teaming up with industry-leading and sustainability-committed snowboard experts at Jones was a natural fit. Bcomp’s solution was originally born in the snowsports world to help the industry push the boundaries of performance and sustainability, so it is always a pleasure working with sports manufacturing leaders like Jones to continue making strides towards a better, more circular snowsports sector.”
