Stökli Bcores being measured

Swiss high-performance skis made with Bcomp’s lightweight wood core

Stöckli, the world-renowned Swiss ski company  produces high-end skis in their state-of-the-art facility in Malters near Lucerne. For years they have been relying on bCores™ for a wide range of lightweight skis.

Early Adopters

In the early days of Bcomp, Stöckli was amongst the first companies to incorporate bCores™ and build very light yet highly performing skis. Over the years Stöckli expanded their portfolio and with it also the presence of bCores™ within it. Starting with light touring skis, the benefits of the lightest wood cores proved to be just as suitable for light freeride skis and skis for lighter weight people. In the course of time, the collaboration has been close and the direct feedback from the factory has helped to optimise the core material and develop the newest generation of bCores™.

Light Freeride Skis Made in Switzerland

With the international trends in skiing going towards lighter freeride- and freetouring skis, the R&D department of Stöckli was very active in developing a new generation of skis. The classic Stormrider and Edge series of freeride- and touring skis deliver descending capabilities for all snow conditions from powder to icy and variable spring snow. Thanks to bCores™ the engineers at Stöckli were able to pack this performance into a lightweight package that is just as happy climbing up to mountaintops as descending from them.  In the Malters based factory, skilled and specifically trained employees assemble and finish every single ski by hand, making sure they meet highest quality requirements.

“By integrating the bCores™ into my freeride skis I could drastically reduce their weight without compromising stability. I could therefore respond to the consumer needs for light and stable freeride skis.” says Mathieu Fauve, Head of Research and Development at Stöckli.

State-of-the-art production

The proximity of R&D competencies and production allowed Stöckli to optimize every single step in the production of their skis. This closeness also allows them to quickly test new ideas and innovative materials. After successful testing the construction of skis is tweaked and optimized and immediate feedback can be obtained from the production process. The skilled workforce and modern machinery combine for a high-quality product that proudly carries the Swiss Made stamp.

Sharing their insights from series production with Bcomp’s engineers allowed the bCore™ family to be constantly optimised and developed further. Stöckli x Bcomp – a successful collaboration.
